Monday in Rome and the rain continued. We had a tour of the Colosseum scheduled but the underground portion was canceled so we rescheduled for Wednesday. While out, we walked to Trevi fountain.
Tuesday March 20th in Rome. Rain off and on but not as bad as Monday. Pictures are from the top of our hotel, Lifestyle Suites within the Piazza Navona. The Piazza Navona was built in 1st century AD and was the site of the Stadium of Domitian.
Wednesday the rain finally stopped and we were able to go on the tour of the Colosseum. The Colosseum was built in 70-80 AD and could hold 50,000 to 80,000 spectators.
The Galleria Borghese is an art gallery in Rome, Italy, housed in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana.
Sculptures by Bernini include Apollo and Daphne from 1622, Rape of Proserpine 1621, David 1623-1624. The sister of Napoleon was sculpted by Canvona as well.
